1990's game back, MYST!!! want to try?

If you owned a computer in the 1990s, then you've probably played Myst. The game came packaged in with many PCs and Macintoshes. It's a classic, to be sure. Last December, Europe got Myst on the Nintendo DS, and for the first time the world has been able to answer the question, "Dude, what if I could play Myst, like, outside?" Well hold on to your book pages, America, because you're about to get the chance, too.

In April Myst hits US shores, and we've already gotten a chance to try it out.

Guess what? It's Myst.

Really, we're not sure what else we can tell you. It's the same Myst that's been ported to nearly every system, and remade twice. Myst has been released no less than a dozen times since 1993.

For those that missed it (most likely because they were pre-natal), Myst was the first big, bestselling point and click adventure. It's what got the genre into the mainstream. The entire game is a first person adventure through a series of locales. There's little animation to speak of, and the focus is on puzzles and beautiful environments.

We'd get into the story of the game, but if you've never played Myst, it's best we keep our mouths shut. It involves you, a place called Myst, and a whole lot of mysteries and puzzles to solve.

For the DS, the world of Myst has been shrunk down to the handheld. The DS version has a few new tools, mostly to compensate for the conversion. Players are given a magnifying glass to check out the finer details in the game. The touch screen controls everything, so the controls don't feel much different from the PC version of the title.

The DS version of Myst also features a new playable Age, Rime. So old time fans of the game should have something new to check out this time around.

Gamers have less than a month to wait before they can get lost in the World of Myst. We've got some screens and videos to give any newcomers a sense of the game.

Call Of Duty (COD) 4 release again for Xbox 360

Rerelease of Activision and Infinity Ward's lionized FPS ships out to retail on April 3 for the Xbox 360; Variety Map Pack adding four new multiplayer maps packed in or $10 on XBL.

It was arguably one of the biggest releases of 2007, and now Activision rerelease Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare as a Game of the Year edition. Let's all accuse Activision of whoring it out!

Details are thin on the ground thus far, but we know that in addition to the obligatory pretty case, the GOTY edition will also come packed with a token that allows players to download the Variety Map Pack which is coming soon.

So far, only an Xbox 360 version has been confirmed, with no news on a PS3 or PC release. It'd be surprising if this stuck to one format, however. For Gamesive who play Xbox 360 grab it now!! Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare edition for Xbox360!!!

Play New Blokus .... Now!!!

Let’s see what Blokus, Here!! In case you've never played a game of Blokus, here are the rules: up to four players start with 21 "polyominoes," which are Tetris-like shapes consisting of one to five adjoined squares. When it's your turn, you must pick a shape and place it somewhere on the communal grid (and you can rotate the piece first, if desired). The object of the game is to fill up more spots on the board than your competitors. One important caveat: the shapes you place on the board must touch another one of yours by one or more corners, but never touch at an edge.

The strategy involves choosing which piece to use and if you should rotate it; how to best lay out your colored shapes on the board; and how to block an opponent's path to restrict their options.

This try-before-you-buy casual download version is great for beginners as the program will tell you if you're trying to place it in an incorrect spot on the board. Or if you need a clue as to what you can do next, you can click the Hint button. This PC version also offers varying levels of difficulty. The game also tallies your score for you after each turn, so you can easily see how you're faring against the others.

The PC game is faithful to the board game in many respects -- the board design, colors and shapes you play with -- but Funkitron has added 16 humorous characters, upbeat music and multiple game modes. While not over-the-top in terms of presentation, the production values are fairly high with attractive graphics, animation, sound effects and music.

Blokus World Tour also offers a first for Blokus fans: the ability to play in tour mode and take part in 10 different Blokus tournaments around the world, beginning in Japan. If you win against the A.I. opponents, you move onto the next round. Humorous characters you'll face off are hand-drawn and each includes their own play style and personality.

Other game modes include a Quick Play option, which lets you choose from a Classic game (two players using two colors each or four players using one color each) or a Duo game (two players using one color each). Additionally, there's Blokus Challenges, which are specially-designed puzzle games. Have some friends with you? You can select two, three or four human players in a Hot Seat mode.

As fun - and challenging - as this strategy game is, there are a couple of shortcomings. For one, Blokus World Tour is missing an obvious feature: online multiplayer. How cool would it be to play against a friend in another city, while also chatting at the same time?

Another issue is some technical glitches that can cause freezes and crashes on some machines; it only happened a couple of times, but understandably, it can detract from the overall experience.

Whether or not you've played the board game, strategy lovers will no doubt be very impressed with Funkitron's Blokus World Tour. The game is fun, challenging and offers many game modes to keep things fresh even after multiple plays. Hopefully the game makers will fix some of the technical glitches and add Internet play in a sequel.
